GONZALO IBÀÑEZ
Have you ever aspired to master your control over illumination, hues, and atmosphere in your watercolor artworks?
Join us on an artistic journey of seven days through the enchanting landscapes of Firenze, where you'll acquire the skills to keenly perceive the interplay of light and color in your surroundings and skillfully translate them onto your paper.
ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR
Gonzalo Ibáñez (b. 1992). Chilean visual artist whose work focuses on the representation of the environment, exploring the beauty in the aesthetic symbolism of the urban landscape, cultural heritage, and its social dimensions within the city. Trained as an architect, he has supplemented his career with studies in aesthetic philosophy, art history, and earthen architectural heritage. He has exhibited in Chile, Italy, Mexico, Peru, and Slovenia and won several international watercolor awards.
COURSE STRUCTURE
Learn how to capture light, composition, color theory, and atmosphere in watercolor. This will be taught through plein air painting (working directly from nature) and using reference materials in the studio.
The method combines lectures with analysis of artwork, diagrams, and examples. We'll practice the fundamental principles of painting theory and then apply them to our work right away.
You will learn to achieve fluidity and simplify your watercolors, allowing the water to be the main element in your work.
You'll receive personalized, one-on-one guidance for five days to improve your work.
Morning: Plein air painting
Afternoon: Studio painting
Monday: The power of thumbnail - How to simplify in watercolor.
Tuesday: Capture light and shadow - Tonal structure
Wednesday: Light and color in urban landscape - Atmospheric perspective
Thursday: Color atmospheres in different light conditions
Friday: Composition and major impact of the image

His approach is grounded in a rigorous academic tradition- celebrated for its structural clarity, depth, and commitment to form - while also embracing a personal modern visual language. This offers a rare chance to refine your technique and deepen your visual understanding.
For both weeks, the same figure model and the same portrait model will pose, giving students the possibility to join for one week or continue the project for a second week by registering for two weeks.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR
Ivan Loginov (b. 1994) in Abakan (South Siberia), Russia. He began his career at the age of 15 in Sankt-Petersburg. From an early age, he developed a passion for classical representational art.
Most of his time he dedicated to studying principles of classical Russian painting in the Imperial Academy of Arts, which has an unbroken tradition since 1757. In his studies, he focused not only on technical aspects of painting but also on philosophy. He aims for a balance between inner and outer beauty of the human portrait. His success comes from a deep understanding of the classical school of thought in painting and drawing. He strives to combine and overlap all his skills in order to achieve an accurate representation of the human soul.
He likes to implement and play with contrasts in color, technique, and ideas. Therefore, even in his large-scale history paintings, one must find clear messages of present issues in society.
Maximum enrollment is 8 students per segment.
