Florence, the birthplace of the Italian Renaissance, is the perfect setting for this workshop dedicated to Figure anatomy-figure drawing, and art history. During this 5-day workshop, we will practice drawing the figure from life following the Florentine structural system, a method that was described by Leon Battista Alberti in the 15th century and revolutionised the way the human figure was depicted in art. This method is still in use today.
The workshop will be an itinerary through the vast treasures of Florence.
ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR
Teacher at the renowned New York Academy of Art, writer, publisher and artist, Roberto Osti has been Teaching anatomical drawing since obtaining his degree in Anatomical/Surgical Drawing in Bologna in 1982.
COURSE SCHEDULE
Monday: 9:00 am-1:00 pm, demo and drawing session, male model; lunch break followed by a visit to the Bargello museum.
Tuesday: 9:00 am-1:00 pm, demo and drawing session, female model; afternoon free; evening: lecture on the use of anatomy in various artistic periods.
Wednesday: 9:00 am-1:00 pm, demo and drawing session, male model; coffee at the Santissima Annunziata terrace and visit the Church of San Marco.
Thursday: 9:00 am-1:00 pm, demo and drawing session, female model; lunch break,visit at the Museo della specola, where we can find an incredibly vast to collection of anatomical waxes, created starting during the 1600’s.
Friday: 9:00 am-1:00 pm, demo and drawing session, male model; lunch break; 5:00 pm: Art talk with the figurative sculptor Jason Arkles
