Plein Air & Still Life Course
Combining plein air painting on location in the historic center of Florence and still life painting in the studio. The objectives of this course are the understanding of observational painting, technical control, and developing a personal visual language grounded in tradition.
Course Focus:
Explore composition, color theory, and the translation of real-life scenes through the visual language by learning fundamental principles.
Begin with fundamental exercises designed to build technical skills in color mixing, composition, and brushwork.
Practice alla prima techniques with small still lives, painting wet-on-wet and organizing a color palette.
Progress to larger still lives starting from underpainting and building up through layers
In this Intensive painting course students will be fully immersed in both studio practice and painting outside on location while being individually guided through the process.
Schedule: Monday – Friday
9:00 AM – 12:00 PM – Plein air landscape painting on location
1:00 PM – 4:00 PM – Still life painting in the studio
This course runs all year long. Every unit starts on Monday and the concrete starting date is scheduled personally with the student.
